Emiliana Ammirata

Emi is a Venezuelan filmmaker based in London. Her work spans TV,  independent films and commercials. 

She is the co-founder of film production house DISCORDIA, with offices in LA, London and Miami. 

Emi also co-founded non-profit organisation, JEVA, focused on supporting Venezuelan women in the arts.

Emi is a London-based film director & producer from Venezuela. Her vocation is to create impact based storytelling. 

Emi first started her career in Los Angeles, working at Participant Media in their Documentary division. She then produced numerous short films with Film Independent’s Project Involve Program as well as branded content with Gucci, VICE, and Garage Magazine. She later worked as a post-producer for WIRELESS, a limited series produced by Steven Soderbergh for Quibi, now on ROKU TV.

In 2020, Emi relocated to London to work with Esperanto Filmoj, Alfonso Cuarón’s production company, on the development of their multiple productions with Apple TV+ and Disney+. Most notably, she worked as a Production Executive on their Apple TV+ series, ‘Disclaimer’, starring Cate Blanchett. 

In 2020 she co-founded JEVA, a non-profit for Venezuelan womxn that work within the cinematic space. Spanning over 1,500 members, they provide educational workshops, grant support, small sponsorships, and mentorship. They’ve recently partnered with the Goethe Institute and Film Independent, amongst many others. 

Emi is also the co-founder of the film production house DISCORDIA, which she launched with her long-time collaborators. They have premiered feature films in festivals such as Locarno, Tribeca, FIDMarseille, and many more.

She is heavily influenced by her roots and a strong sense of community filmmaking. She hopes to make ground-breaking independent cinema that does not follow dogmatic storytelling.
